Primis is partnered with a seed-stage AI startup building the future of legal research.

Our client's product helps everyone make better legal decisions by better understanding the law. About one-third of important U.S. law isn't accessible via mainstream AI chatbots, and much AI-generated legal analysis is wrong. They're building one of the largest collections of U.S. law in existence and using AI to make it usable, accurate and trustworthy.

They're still in stealth, backed by tier-1 VCs and several of the most prominent experts in legal technology, with live engagements with some of the best law firms in the world. Demand is strong and growing, they need people to help fill it.

They're hiring a small team of extremely talented, motivated, intense and interesting people to solve one of the hardest and most important problems in legal tech: delivering high quality answers to legal questions. This isn't a 9-to-5, expect real intensity, real ownership, and market-leading compensation including meaningful equity.

What you'll work on:

• Build and ship the product surface, from data-heavy interfaces to the systems connecting users to a massive legal knowledge base
• Work closely with design and applied AI to turn complex legal reasoning into a clean, trustworthy user experience
• Own features end to end in a small, fast-moving team with direct customer exposure
• Help shape core technical patterns and practices from the ground up on a tiny, senior team

What we're looking for:

• Senior or Staff level full-stack engineering experience, with a track record of shipping real products end to end
• Strong technical foundation across modern frontend and backend stacks
• Ideally, experience at an early-stage startup or similarly high-ownership environment
• Genuine interest in AI systems, legal or regulated-domain problems, and building software that has to be correct, not just plausible
• Comfortable with limited structure, high intensity, and real ownership on a small team
• Strong communicator, able to work closely across engineering, design and subject-matter experts

This role is full-time and in-person in NYC.
