Our client, a high-growth, multi-national payments technology company, is building the next generation of capabilities to power its merchant-first ecosystem. They are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a dynamic development center, designing and building backend, service, and portal systems on a large, actively modernized payments platform built on Java and Spring.
The Role:
- Design and develop backend, service, and portal systems on the payment processing platform
- Work across a variety of languages, frameworks, libraries, and services using modern software techniques, including Behavioral Driven Development and CI/CD
- Understand merchant and partner needs and deliver high-quality, innovative solutions that add value
- Improve software development processes, methodologies, and tools through automation and simplification
- Collaborate with team members to ensure deliverables are technically accurate and delivered on time
- Identify critical project activities, assist with estimation and planning, and communicate status and issues clearly
- Assist with software deployment activities from internal test environments through to production
- Operate effectively across a range of project types, from solo work to large team collaboration
Skills Needed:
- 5-7 years of Software Engineering experience
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with Linux or Windows development, including relational database design (ideally Oracle and Hibernate)
- Professional experience building server-side systems in Java, using Spring, REST APIs, and asynchronous messaging
- Experience with Design Patterns, Refactoring, and OO Design
- Comfortable working in large, multi-module codebases, balancing new features with ongoing modernization
- Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) and strong judgment in applying agentic AI tools effectively
