Job description
DevOps Lead (Player-Coach) | $180–240k + Equity | Remote (EST/CST)
A high-growth, globally scaled SaaS company (4,000+ customers, multi-year triple-digit growth, strong profitability and stability) is hiring a founding DevOps Lead for its US engineering function.
This is a true player-coach role, ideal for a senior DevOps / Platform engineer who wants to lead without giving up hands-on ownership.
The Role
You’ll spend 70–80% of your time hands-on, designing and operating production-grade cloud infrastructure while managing 1–2 engineers.
You’ll be responsible for:
Designing & operating Kubernetes (EKS) in production
Building GitOps pipelines (GitHub Actions + ArgoCD)
Owning AWS infrastructure end-to-end
Driving observability, reliability, and cost optimization
Leading implementation of AI-assisted DevOps workflows
Mentoring and growing a small DevOps team
This is not a people-manager-only role. We want someone who still loves building.
What We’re Looking For
7+ years in DevOps / Platform / SRE
Deep Kubernetes experience in production (non-negotiable)
Strong AWS experience
GitOps experience (ArgoCD preferred)
Terraform / IaC expertise
1–3 years of formal people management (direct reports required)
Comfortable working EST hours
You should enjoy:
Architecting systems yourself
Solving scaling challenges
Operating in a fast-moving, product-focused environment
Leading by example, not just delegating
Why This Role Is Different
Foundational hire for US engineering
Small team leadership (1–2 reports)
Significant ownership & visibility
Stable, well-funded company with strong growth
Role is business-critical (not a “nice to have” headcount)
Equity included
📍 Location
Fully remote in EST or CST (must work EST hours).
Canada also considered.
