The Role: Quantity Surveyor
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a proactive and highly competent Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial and contractual operations of multiple installation projects. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring accuracy, profitability, commercial compliance and strong financial outcomes across the portfolio.
You’ll be the commercial heartbeat of each project—driving value, protecting margins, and influencing strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead contract and commercial reviews at project kick-off
- Ensure project teams fully understand contractual obligations
- Analyse and negotiate subcontractor packages to secure best-value terms
- Measure and value completed works—including installations, commissioning and equipment delivery
- Prepare valuations, progress claims and invoices
- Produce monthly cost reports, budgets and forecasts
- Manage project cash flow and financial performance
- Identify, quantify and negotiate variations and compensation events
- Maintain complete commercial and cost records
- Conduct regular site visits to validate progress and uncover opportunities
- Support final account negotiations and commercial closeout
- Act as the primary commercial contact for clients and subcontractors
- Provide strategic commercial insights to leadership
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves
- UK-recognised Quantity Surveying qualification (RICS-accredited degree, MRICS/AssocRICS, or equivalent) – essential
- Strong experience in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management within the UK
- Knowledge of NEC, JCT or similar contract forms
- Ability to measure, value and forecast accurately
- Experience managing budgets, valuations and cost reporting
- Excellent negotiation and client-facing skills
- Highly organised, analytical and proactive
- Proficient in Office 365 and project scheduling tools
- Experience with digital document control tools (e.g., ACONEX)
