Salary Range - $230,000 – $260,000 USD

The Role
Our client is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Core Platform Team. This group builds the foundational frameworks, tooling, and shared services that power engineering velocity across the organization.
The team’s mission is to improve developer experience, increase delivery speed, enhance reliability, and establish consistent engineering standards across multiple application teams. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of platform engineering, internal product ownership, and cross-functional technical influence.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Ownership
Own the platform vision and multi-quarter roadmap aligned with company growth and engineering priorities
Act as product owner for platform capabilities, translating developer pain points into scalable internal solutions
Define success metrics for platform initiatives (e.g., adoption rates, build time reduction, reliability improvements)
Balance investment across new capabilities, platform stability, and support for consuming teams
Engineering Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of platform engineers
Establish clear expectations, goals, and career development paths
Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and strong “developer-as-customer” empathy
Delivery & Execution
Drive predictable delivery of platform initiatives using agile practices
Ensure platform solutions scale across multiple application teams without creating bottlenecks
Manage technical tradeoffs between standardization and team autonomy
Developer Experience & Enablement
Improve developer velocity through standardized libraries, service templates, CI/CD tooling, and testing frameworks
Reduce cognitive load and duplication by promoting consistent patterns and best practices
Define and enforce architectural standards, principles, and engineering best practices
Champion usability, documentation, and self-service capabilities
Conduct architectural reviews and provide guidance to ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, security, maintainability)
Cross-Team Collaboration & Influence
Partner closely with application engineering teams to understand needs and remove friction
Collaborate with Architecture, DevOps, Security, and Compliance to ensure platform solutions are secure, compliant, and scalable
Communicate platform direction, priorities, and tradeoffs clearly to engineering leadership and stakeholders
AI / LLM Enablement
Lead research and implementation of AI-assisted developer tooling and foundational frameworks for organization-wide adoption
Experience and Attributes
8–12 years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in an engineering management role
Strong technical background building platforms, shared services, or internal developer tooling
Experience acting as a product owner or technical lead for platforms used by multiple engineering teams
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience with Java-based platforms and modern CI/CD systems
Experience working in cloud-native environments (AWS preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
Experience in fintech or other regulated industries
Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure software development
Track record of improving developer productivity or platform adoption metrics
Hands-on experience with LLMs, agentic frameworks, or AI-driven developer tools
