Senior / Staff Machine Learning Engineer | AI Systems at Scale

Cash Compensation on offer: $200,000-$300,000

Primis is partnered with a well-funded scale-up, who are building AI-driven workflows for a space that’s complex, regulated, and overdue for innovation. They're tackling a very real problem. It’s not “AI for AI’s sake”, they’re building systems that people use daily, with humans-in-the-loop, compliance requirements, and clear business impact.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build scalable ML systems end-to-end
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and domain experts
• Develop ML-backed workflows that combine automation with human-in-the-loop validation
• Help shape early agentic architectures (no prior agent experience required)
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar across the team

What We’re Looking For

• 5–10+ years experience building ML systems in production
• Strong Python and systems design skills
• Experience scaling ML platforms or pipelines
• Comfort working in AWS environments (Terraform a plus)
• Collaborative, low-ego communicator who enjoys technical debate done respectfully

Nice to Have

• Graph data, vector databases, or RAG pipelines
• Background in industrial, or regulated domains
• Experience in SOC-compliant or enterprise environments

Working Model

• NYC-based, hybrid (3-4 days/week)
