Job description

Staff AI Engineer | Series B | New York City

The Company

A well-funded Series B company using AI to automate complex, high-stakes operational workflows that have historically been manual and fragmented. Backed by leading VCs, they already count some of the largest enterprise brands in the US among their clients and are scaling deliberately.

What makes them unique is their domain expertise in-house, the people who deal with these workflows every day sit alongside the engineering team, giving you immediate feedback loops and visible real-world impact.

The Role

Staff-level IC role at the heart of the company's AI strategy. You'll be the most senior technical voice on the AI team, owning architecture across all agent stack workflows, building out the company's data moat, and acting as the single point of contact for all AI initiatives.

No people management initially, but a clear path to Principal IC or engineering leadership over time.

What You'll Own

  • Architecture across all agent stack workflows end-to-end

  • Proprietary data pipelines that create long-term competitive advantage

  • Technical coordination across a small, senior AI engineering team

  • End-to-end delivery from design through production

What You'll Bring

  • 6–10+ years of engineering experience, last 4+ years on applied AI applications

  • Hands-on knowledge graph and agent orchestration experience (LangGraph strongly preferred)

  • Production evals experience, LLM evaluation frameworks, validation pipelines

  • Document extraction experience including visual classifiers and unstructured data

  • Strong full-stack engineering foundation — applied AI, not research

Logistics

  • Location: New York City - hybrid 3 days/week

  • Compensation: $220–300k base + 20% cash bonus + equity

  • Sponsorship: H1B transfers considered
