Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (flexible working arrangements available)

About the Organisation

We are a fast-growing consultancy and solutions provider working at the intersection of data, AI, and cloud. Our mission is to help clients accelerate their technology transformation, deliver impactful solutions, and build the next generation of technology leaders. Since 2017, we’ve established a market-leading position in building high-performing data and technology teams, delivering innovative solutions, and strengthening long-term client partnerships.

Our dedicated projects and delivery function is at the core of this, working across a diverse range of industries and technical use cases. We are a tight-knit team of motivated technology professionals where ongoing learning, innovation, and collaboration are central to our culture.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Director Cloud Solution Architect (Azure) to join our Platform Engineering practice. You will act as the technical authority for Azure projects, guiding both internal teams and client engagements. This is a senior-level role, combining hands-on technical design, solution leadership, and thought leadership.

You’ll work closely with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders to design and deliver cutting-edge cloud solutions, while also helping shape best practices, mentor junior engineers, and build credibility with key technology partners such as Microsoft and Databricks.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the technical authority for Azure solution design and deployment.

  • Define and enforce best practices for scalable, secure, cost-efficient cloud architectures.

  • Lead technical design reviews and provide assurance during build phases.

  • Support internal IP development and asset creation.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Development

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for clients and partners.

  • Contribute to proposals, workshops, and pre-sales activities.

  • Represent the organisation as a thought leader through blogs, events, and industry forums.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay on top of the evolving Azure ecosystem and apply the latest features to real-world solutions.

  • Ensure internal assets and methodologies reflect new innovations and best practices.

Team Development

  • Mentor engineers and consultants in Azure and wider cloud practices.

  • Support training programme development and foster a culture of technical excellence.

Skills & Experience Required

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of Azure services across PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS.

  • Proven experience designing and deploying modern data platforms in Azure, with familiarity in tools such as Databricks and Snowflake.

  • Strong enterprise networking knowledge (e.g. Hub & Spoke topologies) and Azure Landing Zone implementation.

  • Expertise in cloud security (Zero Trust, Defence in Depth, least privilege, segregation of duties).

  • Skilled in observability, monitoring, alerting, and building environments aligned with SRE principles.

  • Knowledge of Cloud FinOps and cost optimisation practices.

  • Hands-on experience with automation tools: Terraform, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), IaC governance.

  • Ability to troubleshoot engineering issues from code to infrastructure.

  • Strong system and design thinking, with experience creating logical and physical architecture diagrams.

  • At least 10 full project delivery cycles across multiple industries (FS&I, Energy/Utilities, Public Sector preferred).

  • Additional experience with AWS or GCP is desirable.

Communication & Leadership

  • Proven track record providing technical leadership to cloud engineering teams, ideally in a consultancy environment.

  • Ability to influence and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience supporting pre-sales activities such as bid responses, RFPs, and presentations.

Education

  • Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is desirable.

Diversity & Inclusion

We’re committed to improving diversity in the tech industry and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, particularly those currently underrepresented in the sector, including women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and neurodivergent people.

If you don’t meet every requirement but believe your experience and passion are a strong match, we encourage you to apply.

Adjustments to the recruitment process are available on request to ensure everyone has equal opportunity to succeed.
