Senior Fullstack Engineer
Hybrid – NYC

About the Company
Our client is a venture-backed AI startup solving critical NLP problems at the intersection of law, finance, and machine learning. Founded in 2022 and based in New York, they’ve built an in-house ML platform backed by a world-class team of engineers, researchers, and domain experts.

The company is already partnering with several of the world’s leading law firms and has raised ~$30M in funding, with their most recent round led by a top-tier VC firm. They've been featured in Bloomberg Law, Business Insider, and CB Insights, and were recently named one of the top AI companies to watch in 2024 and 2025.

The Opportunity
The global capital markets represent a $50T+ opportunity. Transactions in these markets involve complex legal documents that require deep domain expertise to understand and manage. Our client is tackling this challenge head-on by building software that precisely extracts, structures, and benchmarks critical legal data—creating real value for stakeholders throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Why This Role Matters
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you’ll be a key player in shaping the user-facing experience of the platform and the design system that supports it. You’ll work closely with a high-caliber team of ML researchers, legal SMEs, and product thinkers to design and build performant, elegant, and highly usable systems. Your work will directly impact the usability and scalability of the platform as the product evolves.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Architect and own a design system that streamlines development and ensures consistency across the product

  • Build and maintain high-performance components and services, delivering features end-to-end (backend to frontend)

  • Explore and implement rendering strategies that optimize performance for complex, data-rich workflows

  • Make key framework decisions that shape the long-term technical trajectory of the platform

  • Define efficient API contracts and collaborate closely across teams to ensure smooth integration

  • Uphold strong engineering practices and contribute to a high-quality, maintainable codebase

What Our Client Is Looking For

  • Strong professional experience as a fullstack engineer with a focus on frontend architecture

  • Proficiency in TypeScript and React

  • Experience designing and building reusable component libraries and design systems

  • Solid foundation in state management, event-driven systems, and frontend performance optimization

  • Backend experience with Node.js, Python, or Go

  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.)

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

  • A bias for action and a pragmatic, problem-solving approach

Bonus Points For

  • Experience optimizing frontend performance for data-intensive applications

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and single-tenant architectures

  • Familiarity with both OOP and functional programming principles

  • An interest in legal tech, finance, language, or economics

  • Thriving in high-ownership, fast-paced startup environments

Compensation
The estimated salary range for this role is $180,000–$220,000 USD, along with a significant early-stage equity package. Final compensation decisions will be based on experience and fit.

Benefits

  • Hybrid schedule (NYC office near Bryant Park / Grand Central)

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Wellhub (Gympass) fitness membership

  • Unlimited PTO and sick days

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
