Job description
AI / ML Architect (AWS)
Hybrid – NYC
$210,000–$230,000
Our client is one of the most innovative and high-performing education organizations in the country. As they scale their internal AI Enablement team, they’re hiring a Principal ML/AI Architect with deep AWS expertise to lead the technical direction of their AI and ML initiatives.
This is a highly strategic and hands-on role where you’ll define the end-to-end architecture, implementation, and deployment strategy across their AWS ecosystem. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with SageMaker and other AWS-native ML tools, MLOps pipelines, scalable cloud infrastructure, and a security-first mindset.
What You’ll Do:
Own the architecture for all AI/ML initiatives across AWS
Deploy scalable, secure ML pipelines using SageMaker, Lambda, Step Functions, and more
Lead MLOps infrastructure: CI/CD, versioning, monitoring, retraining
Collaborate with data teams to build governed data lakes and batch/streaming pipelines
Design secure and FERPA-compliant infrastructure following AWS best practices
Mentor engineers and data scientists on cloud and ML architecture
Ideal Background:
7+ years experience deploying production-grade ML/AI solutions in AWS
Deep expertise with SageMaker (including Pipelines, Feature Store, Model Monitor, etc.)
Strong with AWS tools like Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, Redshift, DynamoDB, Glue, and Athena
Fluency in Python and ML/DL frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
Hands-on MLOps experience with CodePipeline, CloudFormation/Terraform, and containerized workflows
Experience with IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, and AWS security standards
Bonus: EdTech or K–12 experience, distributed training, or serverless ML
This is a high-impact opportunity to own cloud and AI architecture at an organization that's rethinking how education systems work—and to work with a team committed to building responsible, impactful AI in the real world.
